Terms of Service

Last updated: May 14, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the SQLLab VS Code extension ("the Extension") provided by SQLLab ("we", "us", or "our"). By installing or using the Extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. The Extension and License

SQLLab is a proprietary VS Code extension that provides a SQL workspace directly inside the VS Code editor, including features such as a query editor, saved query library, version history, session monitor, data compare, batch execution, and file import.

Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Extension on machines that you own or control, solely for your internal business or personal purposes.

2. Free Trial

The Extension may be used free of charge for a period of 30 days from first activation ("Free Trial"). No credit card is required to start the Free Trial. At the end of the Free Trial, you must purchase a subscription to continue using the Extension. Features may be restricted or disabled once the Free Trial expires without an active subscription.

3. Subscriptions and Payment

After the Free Trial, continued use requires a paid subscription:

Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, Lemon Squeezy. By subscribing, you also agree to Lemon Squeezy's terms of service. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.

We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Price changes will be communicated in advance and will not affect the current paid period.

4. License Key and Activation

Upon purchase, you will receive a license key. The license key must be entered into the Extension to activate your subscription. Your license key is personal and may not be shared with others. You are responsible for keeping your license key confidential. If you believe your license key has been compromised, contact us immediately.

License verification is performed locally on your machine. An internet connection is not required after initial activation.

5. Restrictions

You may not:

6. Intellectual Property

The Extension, including its code, design, features, and documentation, is the intellectual property of SQLLab and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to trademarks or service marks of SQLLab.

Your data — including queries, connection profiles, and results — remains entirely yours. We make no claim to any content you create or manage using the Extension.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Extension will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.

You are solely responsible for ensuring the Extension is appropriate for your use case, and for any consequences resulting from queries you run against your databases.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SQLLab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use the Extension, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Extension shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Your rights under these Terms terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any provision. Upon termination, you must cease using the Extension and delete all copies from your machines. We may also terminate or suspend access to the Extension at our sole discretion, with or without cause, at any time.

Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 survive any termination of these Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation in the first instance. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration or the courts of competent jurisdiction.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Extension.

12. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us via the Q&A tab on the VS Code Marketplace page.
